2.1 Data collection on this website

Server log files

Our website is hosted by Jimdo GmbH, Stresemannstr. 375, 22761 Hamburg, Germany. When you visit our website, the Jimdo servers automatically save the information that the browser sends when the page is visited. The servers are located in data centers within the EU. To ensure the greatest possible security and accessibility of all Jimdo websites, Jimdo uses the cloud-based solution from Amazon Web Services (AWS) for data storage. The data centers of this provider are located in Ireland and are therefore subject to EU law. The stored information includes:

  • the call (request)
  • the IP address
  • the browser type and language
  • the date and time of the call

The information is used to analyze and maintain the technical operation of the servers and the network as well as to combat abuse and is automatically deleted after 7 days. The use of the hoster is for the purpose of fulfilling the contract with our potential and existing customers (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b DSGVO) and in the interest of a safe, fast and efficient provision of our offer by a professional provider (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO).

Cookies

Cookies are used on our site. Cookies are small text files that are usually stored in the browser of the user’s end device for the duration of the current session, i.e. until the browser is closed, but in some cases beyond that. Cookies store certain user data about you, such as language or personal page settings. When you visit our site again, your browser transmits the user-related information back to our site. Thanks to the cookies, our website can therefore offer you your usual standard settings. A more comprehensive overview of the cookies we use and the possibility to object to the processing of data by cookies (“opt-out”) can be found in the list in the cookie policy. The user can also object to the use of cookies by third-party providers on the following Digital Advertising Alliance website: https://www.aboutads.info/choices.

Deactivation of cookies may lead to functional restrictions of our website for you.

Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Ireland Limited. Google LLC and Google Ireland Limited are hereinafter referred to as “Google”.

Google Analytics uses “cookies”, which are text files placed on the visitor’s computer, to help the website analyze how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about the use of the website by the visitor (including the abbreviated IP address) is usually transferred to a Google server and stored there.

Google Analytics is only used with the extension “_anonymizeIp()” on this website. This extension ensures that the IP address is made anonymous by shortening it and excludes the possibility of direct personal reference. The extension shortens the IP address of Google within member states of the European Union or in other states which are party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area before. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transferred to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. The IP address transmitted by the corresponding browser within the scope of Google Analytics is not merged with other data from Google.

On behalf of the site operator, Google will use the information collected to evaluate the use of the website, to compile reports on the website activities and to provide further services to the site operator in connection with the use of the website and the Internet (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO). The legitimate interest in the data processing lies in the optimization of this website, the analysis of the use of the website and the adaptation of the contents. The interests of the users are sufficiently protected by the pseudonymization.

Google LLC. is certified according to the so-called Privacy Shield (list entry here) and guarantees on this basis an adequate level of data protection. The data sent and linked to cookies, user IDs (e.g. user ID) or advertising IDs are automatically deleted after 50 months. Data whose retention period has been reached is automatically deleted once a month.

The collection by Google Analytics can be prevented by adjusting the cookie settings for this website. The collection and storage of the IP address and the data generated by cookies can also be refused at any time with effect for the future. The corresponding browser plugin can be downloaded and installed under the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

The visitor can prevent the collection by Google Analytics on this website by clicking on the following link An opt-out cookie is set to prevent the future collection of data when visiting this website. Further information on the use of data by Google, setting and objection options, can be found in the privacy policy of Google (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and in the settings for the display of advertising by Google (https://adssettings.google.com/authenticated).

Contact form

If you send us inquiries via the contact form, your details from the inquiry form, including the contact data you provide there, will be stored by us for the purpose of processing the inquiry and in the event of follow-up questions. We will not pass on this data without your consent. The processing of this data is based on Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b DSGVO, if your inquiry is related to the fulfillment of a contract or is necessary for the implementation of pre-contractual measures. In all other cases, processing is based on our legitimate interest in the effective processing of the inquiries addressed to us (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO) or on your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a DSGVO), provided that the inquiry was made. The data entered by you in the contact form will remain with us until you request us to delete it, revoke your consent to its storage or the purpose for which it was stored ceases to apply (e.g. after your inquiry has been processed). Mandatory legal provisions – in particular retention periods – remain unaffected. If you send us a message using the contact form, the content of the message but not the IP address will be saved by Jimdo. Messages in our contact form are sent “Opportunistic TLS” encrypted.

reCAPTCHA

To protect your requests via contact form we use the service reCAPTCHA of the company Google Inc. (Google). The query serves to differentiate whether the input is made by a human being or abusively by automated, machine processing. The query includes the sending of the IP address and possibly other data required by Google for the service reCAPTCHA to Google. For this purpose, your input will be transmitted to Google and used there. Your IP address will, however, be shortened by Google within member states of the European Union or in other signatory states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area before it is used. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transferred to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of this service. The IP address transmitted by your browser in the context of reCaptcha is not combined with other data from Google. For these data the deviating data protection regulations of the enterprise Google apply. You can find further information on Google’s privacy policy at: https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=de

The data will remain with us until you request us to delete it, revoke your consent for storage or the purpose for which the data was stored ceases to apply (e.g. after your request has been processed). Mandatory legal provisions – in particular legal retention periods – remain unaffected.

Within the framework of our Internet presence, pages or tools with external content are also used or linked to these.

Google Maps

For the sake of user-friendliness, we use the Google Maps map service from Google Inc. on the “Contact > How to find us” subpage. (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA).

By using the functions of this map, data is transferred to Google. You can find out which data is collected by Google and what this data is used for at https://www.google.com/intl/de/policies/privacy/.

Google Fonts

Google fonts are an important component to keep the quality of our website high. All Google fonts are automatically optimized for the web – this saves data volume and is a great advantage especially for use on mobile devices. When you visit our site, the low file size ensures a fast loading time. The Google Fonts are an integral part of our website and cannot be deactivated. However, Jimdo has implemented a privacy-compliant integration of the Google fonts that does not transfer IP addresses to Google.

Newsletter/MailChimp

If you would like to receive the newsletter offered on our website, we need an e-mail address from you. Using the so-called double opt-in procedure, you confirm that you are the owner of the e-mail address provided and that you agree to receive the newsletter. The data entered in the newsletter registration form will be processed exclusively on the basis of your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a DSGVO). You can revoke your consent to the storage of your e-mail address and its use for sending the newsletter at any time, for example by clicking on the “unsubscribe” link in the newsletter or on our website. The legality of the data processing operations already carried out remains unaffected by the revocation. The data you have provided us with for the purpose of subscribing to the newsletter will be stored by us with the newsletter service provider until you unsubscribe from the newsletter and will be deleted from the distribution list after you unsubscribe from the newsletter. After you have been removed from the distribution list, your e-mail address will be stored in a blacklist by the provider to prevent future mailings. The data from the blacklist will only be used for this purpose and will not be merged with other data. This serves both your interest and our interest in compliance with legal requirements when sending newsletters (legitimate interest in the sense of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO). The storage in the blacklist is not limited in time. You can object to the storage if your interests outweigh our legitimate interest.

We send newsletters with the provider MailChimp and use the subscribe/unsubscribe function of this newsletter service on our website. MailChimp is part of The Rocket Science Group, LLC, 675 Ponce de Leon Ave NE, Suite 5000, Atlanta, GA 30308 USA. If you register for our newsletter service on our website, the entered data will be stored at MailChimp. If you receive a newsletter via MailChimp, information such as IP address, browser type and email program is stored to give us feedback on the performance of our newsletter. MailChimp can use the images called web beacons (details can be found on https://kb.mailchimp.com/reports/about-open-tracking) integrated in the HTML e-mails to determine if the e-mail has arrived, if it has been opened and if links have been clicked. All this information is stored on MailChimp’s servers, not on this website. MailChimp is an active participant in the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework, which regulates the correct and secure transfer of personal data. You can find more information on https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt0000000TO6hAAG.
